Some dear readers
wondered about the pessimistic tone in last week’s article. They were not
satisfied by an answer saying it was just assumptions included in the worst
scenario and that all the questions in it were warning stating ones. The article
also ended by a statement saying that there is no way but resisting…
Those readers have all the
right in their wonder because the writer shall in the first place call for
optimism and encourage people to do their best, not the contrary… also, many of
those readers have already raised the flag for serious resistance and I even heard
one of them – and he is like a professor to me – affirming that despite his old
age, he is willing to do all that support the sincere national efforts and that
we shall all keep staunchly supporting the president who spared no effort in
serving our country and facing dangers on all fronts.
Now, I would like to
continue tackling the worst and darkest scenario that in case it happened – God
forbid – it would have been due to the result of having several lines meeting
together at one point… I described them as flaming rays concentrated using a
glass lens to condense energy and raise temperature until burning takes place… we
shall also talk about the comprehensive resisting action that is different to
the fighting one… as fighting encompasses the meaning of killing and we should
not rush to killing until we are facing a foreign enemy on our land… but as to retribution
achieved through justice and applying law, it is totally different.
The resisting action has
its weapons, starting from the written and heard word and not ending by all
human activities… whether soft power of education, scientific research,
literature, and arts including sculpture, music, singing, theater… or hard
power represented in production in fields, factories, laboratories and reaching
to the stand-by effective military might.
The first verse in the
resistance poem, according to the meaning described above, shall be to prevent
and stand against all attempts aiming at driving wedges between us and the
national leadership… that leadership that stood at the first line in facing
muslim brotherhood and then won the people’s trust through free elections.
I say this because I,
and many others I met and heard from, have started to see a scene whose authors
and directors aim at rupturing our national cohesion that united with the hopes
and ambitions of Jan 25th revolution and with the confrontation and
accomplishment of June 30th revolution… first, we heard about the
end of such unified coalition and the absence of common action… then, we moved
to the point that some try to nail the status of the Egyptian army in the
Egyptian people’s conscience… talking about the army monopolizing the ruling
power, projects… etc. started to go viral as if it is another country’s army
and not ours.
Despite the repeating
declarations by the president; the commander in chief of the armed forces, that
the army’s contribution to the economy ranges from 1.5 to 2 percent – which is
a very small percentage – that wicked bunch are still orchestrating their false
claims’ symphony with the intension of making a fuss if not able to cause a
real damage. Here, resisting such evil attempt is a dire necessity.
Now we come to the
second verse of the resistance poem; that is making every endeavor so that all
living powers in this country, starting from the elite bunch of politicians,
intellectuals and social figures and reaching to the aware people of the public,
can meet. Meeting here does not mean we shall gather in halls and lectures’ auditoriums
preceded by podiums and rows of seats with name cards hanged on them… rather,
it is to meet over a specific clear national target; that is the very existence
of the Egyptian state and protecting it against any attempt to dismantle it or
curbing its status and role… also, we shall meet on the need to stand against
all orientations that seek destruction as a mandatory condition for the
construction they claim they have its basics and courses… such orientations
extend from the anarchists raising slogans of revolutionary socialism to the
absent-minded priests of religious rituals and to the murderer terrorists
shedding blood of our people.
The third verse is
disgracing and chasing those who started short while ago coming out of their
hide-outs where they hid after Jan 25th revolution and after muslim
brotherhood ruling regime was ousted of power due to June 30th
revolution… those opportunists knew the way once, twice and even tenth, again
to the places affecting our nation media-wise, culturally, economically and socially…
those who don’t care if they were offended for the million time as long as they
will come back to decision making positions… examples and models for those are
many and disgusting.
The most important thing
in the resisting action is persistence and refusal to succumb to the reality
whatever cruel it is… also, the resisting individual shall be accurate as to where
to target his resistance bullets at… where the bullet pass through… will it go
through the nation’s body while targeting its precisely-determined target or
not?... and how can we avoid – while we are doing our resisting acts – to break
or destroy the fundamentals of our national conscience?… those known and clear
fundamentals that some try to distract our attention away from its constructive
enlightening contexts.
Yes… our economic
situation is very difficult and consequently, our social ones are very
disturbed as whole classes are going down the social ladder… also, practices of
media, journalism and culture-interested entities give the impression that
those in charge of them are either absent-minded who feel no responsibility or conspirers
working according to their very own agendas and not the nation’s. Of course, both
kinds are not accepted. The same applies to practices in the services’ sector,
whether education, health system, medications… etc.
And again… Yes… Egypt
past history affirms its capacity to come back again strong and to rise in a
short time span… however the condition guaranteeing such rise to continue – and
which we learnt through the two renaissance experiments of Muhammed Ali Pasha
and Gamal Abdel-Nasser – is that Egypt shall stay united and cohesive so that
it can set off to perform its vital role in its surroundings and the whole
world… and in a way that does not provoke any regional or international powers to
destroy our Egyptian renaissance fearing it may represent an imminent danger
over their interests.
Now, the crucial
question is: how can we rise and do our role in a way that keeps all what we
have achieved?
