It was as if my brain cells got burnt due to the fire
those terrorist criminals set in all our human and national existence… it was
the first time I wished if I could turn into a ball of fire taking in its way
all those who exploit religion and claim that they alone are people of
knowledge and Fatwa and only them know the proper religion and anyone
else are just hypocrite ignorant.
Only a message I received from my friend and dear
brother Nabil Morqos brought me back to my senses… I here excerpt some of its
lines so that all those whose minds and consciences were appalled by the heinous
evil act can read: “…defending our elite Christian and Islamic values that
prevent us in such crucial moments from submitting to our instinct is by not
reacting by using violence against violence or sword against sword… and let us
remember the decisive clear words of our master and teacher; Jesus which he
said to the one who hit the slave of the chief priest cutting his ear thinking
he was defending the Christian man in doing so: “Then said Jesus unto him,
Put up again thy sword into his place: for all they that take the sword shall
perish with the sword“… we do not use the sword because the effective
weapons our master Jesus used to defeat death was his prayers in the garden of
Gethsemane and his obedience to the father even if crucified… and his love even
for those who crucified him… he prayed for them while he was hanged on the
cross in his last moments “Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do“… let us pray from our martyrs in Tanta and Alexandria… let us pray for
those who killed them… let us ask our heavenly father for more love, mercy and
forgiveness so that we can beat evil and terrorism powers that kill our Christian
sons, Muslim brothers, our police and army men… but they will not hit our unity…
not our county… not our love, faith in Jesus and our commitment to defend our
country that Pope Shenouda taught us it is a country that lives in us… best
regards, Nabil Morqos”.
This was part of my friend and dear brother’s message
in which he pointed to the elite forgiving spirit established by respected
Islamic and Christian examples like Imams Muhammed Abdo, Mahmoud Shaltoot and
Sheikh al-Bakouri and figures like Dr. Abdo Sallam and father Christian… he
also pointed to the support and encouragement of Bishop Mosa for all efforts
defending those elite Christian and Islamic values and I do agree with him.
And to the resurrection which I do not think is the
moment following the incidents that took place in the site called Calvary alone…
but it is the whole pure journey that started when the angel told pure Virgin
Mary of her pregnancy… all what in this journey bears the meaning of
resurrection to the humanity… if resurrection is about right coming to reality
and winning… and wrong vanishing and defeated…
All words and stances of prophet Jesus were about the clear right
defeating the wrong of the Jews… it was a right that stands with the humans and
do justice for the weak and poor… also a right that uncovers those who exploit
religion and manipulate people… he declared that he came not to destroy but to fulfill…
“Blessed are the poor in
spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted. Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth. Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled. Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy. Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God. Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God."…the Gospel of Matthew, chapter five… “Think not that I am come to destroy
the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled"… the Gospel of Matthew, chapter five.
Resurrection was and will be in some of its meanings an establishment of
the argument that stands against the incoherence of the pretexts of those
hypocrites… even if they were scribes and Pharisees: “But woe unto you, scribes
and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye shut up the kingdom of heaven against men:
for ye neither go in yourselves, neither suffer ye them that are entering to go
in. Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye devour widows' houses, and for a pretence make long prayer: therefore ye shall receive the greater damnation."… Gospel of Matthew, chapter 23.
Resurrection was and will be in some of its meanings a true reading of
the unseen that is to be one day on earth… as he knew that one day stone will cry
out if evil and tyrant powers managed to silence the voices of those who praise
God feeling happy and asking for peace… “And when he was come nigh, even now at the descent of
the mount of Olives, the whole multitude of the disciples began to rejoice and
praise God with a loud voice for all the mighty works that they had seen; Saying, Blessed be the King that cometh in the name of the Lord: peace in heaven, and glory in the highest. And some of the Pharisees from among the multitude said unto him, Master, rebuke thy disciples. And he answered and said unto them, I tell you that, if these should hold their peace, the stones would immediately cry out."… Gospel of Luke, chapter
19…
Stones have already cried out and still do in Palestine… prophet Jesus
said even more about Jerusalem: “And when he was come near, he beheld the city, and
wept over it, Saying, if thou hadst known, even thou, at least in this thy day, the things which belong unto thy peace! but now they are hid from thine eyes. For the days shall come upon thee, that thine enemies shall cast a trench about thee, and compass thee round, and keep thee in on every side, And shall lay thee even with the ground, and thy children within thee; and they shall not leave in thee one stone upon another; because thou knewest not the time of thy visitation."… Gospel of
Luke, chapter 19.
He could not have been clearer or more obvious than
that as we are now watching and suffering from the siege that encircles
Jerusalem and the beleaguerment practiced from all sides in addition to the attempts
to destroy it with its sons inside it… It is the resurrection of establishing
justice…
May God preserve our unity and help us get rid of all evil surrounding
us… “Our Father which art in
heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, as in heaven,
so in earth. Give us day by day our daily bread. And forgive us our sins; for we also forgive every one that is indebted to us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil."… There is no
God save Thee. Be Thou Glorified… I have been a wrong-doer… Peace be upon
prophet Muhammed and upon all prophets and messengers.
