Last Tuesday evening, the
Egyptian television broadcasted a statement issued by the ministry of interior
including facts about hunting the terrorist group responsible for killing
policemen in Helwan as some were arrested and others died trying to resist the
police using a machine-gun!
While watching, I found
similarities between them and previous cases, for example the accused has the
same face expressions and features which reveal a vicious cruelty. I also noticed
two things; the first was when the accused were narrating part of their life
stories and how they almost agreed that they started believing in Salafism and
joined its movement and later moved to Jihadism as they found those who
convinced them to do so… the second was when the accused were confessing
killing, stealing, and repeating such awful actions many times in many places
in cold blood. They mentioned how they stole the pick-up truck they used in the
accident and that the truck was owned by an Egyptian Christian citizen whom
they murdered and then changed the truck color from blue to white.
So, Salafism is the main ground where
such terrorists are first bred and later they move to Jihadism!! And away from
the obduracy of differentiating between salafi and salafist and between fighter
and murderer Jihadi, the real truth is that we witness daily the Fatwas and
opinions of Yasser Burhami, Makhioun’s salafism and their likes. Real Salafism,
the one that some elaborate people know well and that is totally different to
that of Yasser Burhami, does not exist. The discourse we hear and witness every
day is the one shouting “I am the real Salafi and no one else is”; meaning he
is the true muslim and the rest of the society are atheists even if they
testified there is no God but Allah and that Muhammed is his prophet, set their
prayers, paid their Zakat, fasted Ramadan, and fulfilled Pilgrimage rituals, in
addition to the “apostates”; Christians and Jews, even if “They believe in Allah and the Last Day, and they enjoin what
is right and forbid what is wrong and hasten to good deeds. And those are among
the righteous”.
Here I say simply, those
criminal terrorists who killed our sons, damned our life and spread corruption
in our society are true to themselves and to what they believe; because those
who were disciples for Yasser Burhami, Makhioun and their likes have to adopt
the ideology of Killing, vandalizing, quelling the state, corrupting the
society and assassinating anyone who may disagree to their ideology no matter
the damage afflicting the nation! Those accused who appeared last Tuesday
evening talking consciously, calmly and cold-bloodedly about their crimes are
true to themselves and their evolution from Yasser Burhami’s salafism into
Daesh and al-Qaeda’s Jihadism. Liars are those who practice a special and
dangerous kind of Taqiya[1]; they ascend rostrums,
give lectures, get interviewed in TV talk shows, enter parliament, and attend meetings
with the president as being the ones with the purist faith in the nation who do
not work elaborately against the state and its institutions!
Now gentlemen, let us
try to figure out who is more criminal… is it the one holding the machine-gun
and bomb with his hand risking his life either killed or life imprisoned? Or is
it the one working hard and elaborately on a timely-set plan to produce the
first specimen and preparing it mentally, psychologically and physically to
hold the machine-gun and bomb to kill others?!!
Let us all demand that state
institutions directly involved in the matter – interior ministry and national
security – shall present detailed and authenticated reports about those
so-called salafists to state institutions; either parliament or executive
entities, detailing presence of such people in Egypt and their offshoots inside
and abroad… the falsely educating but actually inciting “Dawaa programs” they
provide… how many men, youth, teenagers, women and girls have attended such
programs, and where they went after that… how many of them have turned into a
terrorists’ maker? How many have turned into bombs’ makers and guns’ carriers?
How many have turned into experts in stealing cars and changing their outlooks…
in stealing banks and homes in order to finance their dirty operations?!
Let us all address the
parliament, ahead of it is a law professor and one of its deputies is the head
of al-Ashraf syndicate, asking for its committees to examine the confessions
and sayings of those accused, and then to form committees including experts
specialized in tracing all political, thought and Dawaa threads that helped
weave such horrible bloody fabric embracing such mentalities.
Let us all admit that
the beginning was adopting such ideology and joining the salafists’ movement!
The parliament along with its committees can find tens of videos recorded on YouTube
where those so-called salafist Imams are spreading their poisons publicly. They
can see Burhami talking about his fellow citizens as apostates who will
eventually dwell in hell; meaning Egyptian Christians. Those are the real
criminals who educated, prepared, convinced, and produced generations of
terrorists spreading across our country and allegedly claim to have a political
legitimacy. Those are the ones worth chasing and not only the criminals who followed
orders. The horrendous confessions we heard leaves no doubt about the identity
of the real culprits!
What Yasser Burhami and
his likes say and teach to their followers about Christians and Christianity is
absolutely incomparably and far exceeding what Islam Behiri and Fatma Naout
were accused of. I also believe that the whole thing has exceeded blasphemy and
spreading sectarian discrimination into hitting the country along with its
institutions in the core of its existence. It’s now evident that the ideology
and discourse of salafists in Egypt is producing the criminals who kill, destroy
and vandalize cold bloodedly and viciously, thinking what they do is the essence
of faith which they grasped in salafists’ discourse lectures.
